It seems as though every time I’m at Fields on West Lake the weather is the same. Cold and gloomy…with rain. However! Every time I go there it’s such an awesome wedding with such awesome couples. The outdoors, the decor, the people and LOVE…they are all ingredients to make that awesome wedding. It was personally so sweet because they had some crazy rains during their ceremony which was just like mine! I love weddings like this because it reminds me of my very own crazy backyard wedding. Something about rain that’s very utterly romantic.
Our relationship began several years ago when these two lovebirds booked me 2 years in advance so you’ll understand when I say that shooting their wedding felt like shooting an old friends wedding. Steph is super duper cool! Can a bride be more chill and cool on their own wedding? I mean, she got a mosquito bite on her forehead right when we started the photoshoot portion of the day and it just did not bother her. Also, a super duper cool element that they had at their wedding reception was a bubble tea stand! AWESOMENESS!!!!!
Fall is here!
I love everything about autumn. I love going apple picking, eating turkey and pumpkin pie, and getting cozy with a warm sweater. But most of all, I love the colours of the changing leaves – that, for me, is the best part of this season!
The yellows, oranges, and reds are so pretty and make a great natural colour theme for a wedding or photo shoot. I think more couples should get married in the fall!
Introducing the newest member of the team. Michelle is helping me out with some of my work load and will also appear here as a guest blogger. So great to be working with a team!!!!!!! I can’t tell you how much fun it is to joke around and laugh together. We’ve had fruli and youtube breaks to make it even more funtastic.
Thought I should share with you a bit of what I’ve been doing around the house. Maybe I should’ve documented the process a little better but here it is…
I love the powder room because it’s a small space so you can do more drastic things with it and no one will complain. I call it the jewel. Whenever I got to a new place I pay attention to the washroom because that tells me whether or not the owner really cares about the user experience. Often times people don’t put a lot of money into washrooms bc they don’t think it’s important. I think the opposite! Why? The washroom is still part of the “fancy restaurant” it’s still going to be part of the experience of dining there. I shudder at the thought of countless “after-thought” washrooms with its florescent lights. yuk. All to say that I judge an interior (mostly just restaurants) by its washroom.
before – painting with black paint is both terrifying and incredibly fun.
After – Tah dah!!!!!!! mini slot shelf for those magazines that are a little bit older…
This is what I’ve done to our powder room so far. It’s not finished yet so don’t judge me just yet!
Frame: Ikea!!!!! so friggin awesome.
Rug: West Elm
Wood: some cheap pieces from Home Depot
hahaha wow I am so uninformative.
